Schedule

To skate in a session, participants must meet the grade/age requirements for that particular session. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Halfway through each skate session, skaters are required to sit and listen to a 30-minute Bible Talk. Those who arrive after the Bible Talk cannot skate that night. Those who leave before the Bible Talk must attend the talk before they can skate in another session.

“Roofless” sessions at the new property will run May 6th – September 26th, 2024. Address is 16119 SE Stark St in Portland, OR 97233. These sessions are outdoors and will be WEATHER PERMITTING. Please follow @skatechurchpdx on social for weekly updates on session status.

Registration

In order to skate / ride you must do the following:

  1. COMPLETELY FILL OUT AND SIGN THE APPROPRIATE FORM.    Liability / Medical Forms   Both minor participant and minor participant’s legal parent (legal birth parent, legal guardian, legal foster care parent or legal adoptive parent) must sign the minor form. Signatures from stepparents, host-families, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, neighbors and friends are not legally binding and therefore will not be accepted.
  2. PARENTAL SIGNATURES WE ACCEPT: 1. Parental signature witnessed by Skatechurch Staff, or 2. Parental signature accompanied by a photo or photocopy of BOTH SIDES of the signing parent’s valid drivers license, or 3. Parental signature witnessed and notarized by a notary public.
  3. PROVIDE PROPER ID. Legal parents must provide current signed photo ID (Drivers license, DMV ID, or Passport). Minor aged participants must provide ID to prove age/grade eligibility for the appropriate session. IDs we accept are: Current School Photo ID, Birth Certificate, Drivers License, DMV ID, Medical ID, Passport or old Skatechurch ID.
  4. MEET AGE/GRADE REQUIREMENTS. age groups
  5. WEAR HELMET. Those 11 and younger (Peewees) must wear a helmet. Those 12 and older are encouraged to wear a helmet. Loaner helmets are available. Those who choose not to wear a helmet do so at their own risk. Potential injuries include permanent disability or even death.
  6. INLINE SKATERS AND SCOOTERS are permitted in Peewee only. Only skateboarding is permitted at Junior High, High School and Over-18. BMX riders are not permitted at any session.

Fees

Admission to weekly skate sessions is FREE!

Rules

Skatechurch is more than a place to skate. We exist to tell skaters about God. If you come to skate you MUST attend the Bible Talk halfway through the session. If you are not willing to hear about God then Skatechurch is not for you.

Beyond that, we simply ask that skaters obey the staff, respect other people and church property, skate safe, and have fun!

Please note: We are a SKATEBOARDING ministry.

  • Only skateboarding is permitted at Junior High, High School and Over-18.
  • INLINE skaters and SCOOTERS are permitted ONLY at Peewee.
  • BMX riders are not permitted at any session.

My son was held back a year in school. Does he have to go to the session for his age or can he go to the session with all his friends that are his grade?2017-01-11T19:01:16+00:00

The sessions are primarily based on grade in school, not age, so he would be able to go to the same session as his friends.

All my son’s friends are still in Junior High. Can he keep going to the Junior High sessions even though he just started High School classes?2017-01-11T19:00:51+00:00

No, he would have to go to High School sessions.

Yes, but only if you have it notarized OR send a photocopy of BOTH SIDES of the signing parent’s drivers license/ID card with your son.

His parents are in Europe on an extended vacation.
No. His parents should download a form from our website, fill it out, scan it, and then email it to their son, along with a scanned photocopy of BOTH SIDES of the signing parent’s valid drivers license, so he can bring it to his first skate session.

Inline skates and scooters are permitted in Peewee only. Only skateboarding is permitted at Junior High, High School and Over-18. BMX riders are not permitted at any session.

If my son gets hurt during the session, what happens?2017-01-11T18:59:08+00:00

If Skatechurch Staff feels the injury is serious enough, he would be taken to the hospital you designate on the form. If it is an extremely serious injury, he would be taken to the nearest hospital. Skatechurch Staff will attempt to contact you but will not delay transport to a hospital if you are not contacted. Minor cut and scrapes are taken care of by Skatechurch Staff with on-site first-aid supplies.

My daughter graduated from 8th grade in June. Should she go to the Junior High or High School sessions this summer?2017-01-11T18:58:44+00:00

She must go to the Junior High session. Skaters must remain in their session through the summer until moving up when school starts.

No, the staff leaves right after a session is over.

Yes. Parents, guardians, and relatives may observe the skating and listen to the Bible Talk. All other adult observers must have explicit permission from Skatechurch staff.
